2020... to come
The course is designed to give the novice steersperson the information and drills they need to begin steering a dragon boat.
The first part is devoted to theory. A steersperson not only steers a boat, but is the jack-of-all trades at a festival and the backbone of any event. All of the different scenarios a steersperson will face, including safety, steering mechanics, racing situations, marshalling crews will be reviewed.
The second part will include the on water instruction. In order to maximize time steering and reduce the stress, the novice steerspersons will be divided into groups into small groups.
Certification is awarded when the steersperson is capable of performing all of the skills provided on the certification checklist. Times will be arranged on a case by case basis between the instructor(s) and steersperson to perfom the certification.
